Trap Star Emtee Back in Custody After Violating Bail Conditions
South African trap superstar and singer-songwriter Mthembeni Ndevu, famously known as Emtee, has been taken back into custody after violating the conditions of his bail. Ndevu’s bail was rescinded after he made a brief appearance at the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on the 17th of August 2026 for allegedly breaching the protection order filed against him by his former wife Nicole Chinsamy.
The three-year-old protection order, filed against the “Manando” rapper by his then-wife, forbade the pioneering hip-hop star from harassing her online and perpetrating any further verbal abuse against her.

Ndevu was initially taken in for custody earlier this year for impinging on the protection order. He was subsequently let go with the price of R1 000 bail, granted that he kept the peace and refrained from interacting with Chinsamy in any way, shape, or form online. The scope of the restraining order included libellous and harmless attempts at interaction.
Over the past several years, Ndevu and Chinsamy’s beleaguered marriage has been at the forefront of controversy, with the pair being embroiled in allegations of emotional and physical abuse which have since spilt over to the realms of social media.

The estranged pair’s former relation has been marred with disputes and private conversation leaks, which have given the public a glimpse of the dynamic between Ndevu and Chinsamy.
For a while, Emtee seemed to have moved on, with the rapper announcing his new boo, Nandi Ndathane, with cute snaps as well as tattoos of each other’s names. The rapper also recently issued a press statement, in which he formally apologised to Chinsamy, though tacitly, to his family and to everyone involved in his life. However, the recent development has cast a shadow over Emtee’s future as the musician awaits to know the course of his fate.
