Tyla Nominated for Four American Music Awards and Announces New Music with Zara Larsson

Fresh from winning her second Grammy in February, South African global star Tyla has scored four nominations for the 2026 American Music Awards (AMAs). Previously, she received her first two AMA nominations in 2025, for Best Female R&B Artist and Best Afrobeats Artist, winning the latter. With these latest nominations, her total AMA nomination count rises to six.

Announced on the 14thĀ of April 2026, the East Rand popiano queen scored nominations for the same categoriesĀ as last year,Ā with the addition of Best Music Video and SocialĀ Song of theĀ Year for her hit single ā€œChanelā€.

ReleasedĀ inĀ October 2025, the song serves as the leadĀ single to her highly anticipated sophomore album teased with the working title of A-Pop. Announced at the Grammy ceremony earlier this year, no confirmed release date has been put out.

The singleĀ has since garnered over 177 million plays on YouTube and has amassed over 322 million streams on Spotify, trailing her next successful single ā€œPush 2 Startā€ byĀ a close margin.

TylaĀ also shared news of a new single on the wayĀ called ā€œShe Did It Againā€, featuring Grammy-nominated Swedish superstar Zara Larsson,Ā who is also nominated for the AMAs in five categories. Larsson is also pitted against Tyla for Social Song of the Year, thanks to her critically acclaimed single “Lush Life”. Tyla’s next single is due to drop on Friday, theĀ 17thĀ of April 2026.

The 2026 AMAsĀ are scheduled to take place on the 25thĀ of May 2026 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Paradise, Nevada.
