The Arts & Culture Trust in partnership with Soda World present the AfroTech Road to Amapiano Festival on the 7th of September. The Road to Amapiano is an electronic music festival hosted at the iconic Constitution Hill Old Fort in Johannesburg, now a world heritage site. Supported by Nedbank, the festival that celebrates 30 years of the rich history and global impact of South African music, offers the option to attend in person or virtually from anywhere in the world.

Featuring Oskido, Thebe, Glen Lewis, Ready D, Nasty C, Tamara Dey, Moonchild Sanelly, Thebe, Boom Shaka, Scott Maphuma, MFR Soul, Jab a Jaw, Just Themba, Thakzin, Jimm & Tonic, Aero Manyelo and Mellow & Sleazy. The festival will take attendees on an unforgettable journey through three decades of South African music, highlighting the evolution and innovation of genres like Kwaito, Afro-house, Gqom, Afrotech and Amapiano through DJ and live act performances.

Celebrating the rich history and global impact of South African music in acknowledgment of 30 years of democracy and the Arts & Culture Trust’s 30 years of existence, this year’s theme, “The Road to Amapiano,” will feature a hot line-up of South Africa’s top musicians from all three decades including a 10-hour jam session hosted by Soweto’s finest ‘Sawubona Music Jam.’ 

Enjoy a day/night experience at the iconic Constitution Hill that features, virtual reality (VR), curated maker market products and experiences, gaming, gourmet local food, kids entertainment zone, and more.

The Road to Amapiano Festival uniquely combines virtual and physical audiences through cutting-edge mixed-reality technology. Attendees can enjoy this immersive experience live at the venue or in VR from anywhere on the planet. Whether you’re an experienced or new VR user, bring your own VR set or rent one at the event to fully immerse yourself in this extraordinary celebration of music and technology. Audiences may also log into the virtual space using any mobile device via Spatial.io or VRChat.
