Thee Suka’s debut EP “Against all odds” set to release in May.

After a successful mark within the industry, with unforgettable releases such as Mano Mano, Zulu and Aluwawa among others, Thee Suka is gearing for their anticipated debut EP release early next month.

This body of work, dubbed “Against all odds”, is a four-track compilation of a story of all they have had to overcome to get to where they are now; including being caught in the middle of the unfortunate face-off between musos Zakes Bantwini vs Black Coffee song allegations.

These life experiences have been a summed up in music, a victory dance of some sort, that aims also to keep alive the genre inspirational music that is desperately needed in and around South Africa.

And while they share inspirational music for the world to consume, they too have had to dip into their own pool of motivation to get them through difficult times, SucreSoul shares.

“It is all the things that we had been through in recent years from that difficult period of Covid-19 to the death of a prospective third member of the gang, dealing with the pressure of expectations from the public and having our equipment stolen just as we got to the stage of mastering of this very EP. A lot has happened that could have broken us.

“But despite everything, we found ourselves still persevering and piercing through the industry hence the title ‘Against All Odds‘, said producer Tshepo Marong, also known as SucreSoul.

Working on the project for close to a year, SucreSoul shares that the four selected songs are tracks that resonates with them the most.

Their lead single, Izinkathazo, is a song of prayer and reassurance that one’s prayers are heard in the heavens, “also emphasizing that continuing to pray is important,” he said. The second song on the EP, dubbed ‘Army of Angels‘, is a non-vocal song with harmonization that depict angels that ultimately encourage the feeling of being protected by the heavenly beings.

Track three, Ithemba, speaks of hope. “We are still saying to God that our faith is in Him, while the last song is Unconditional, an instrumental song that seeks to showcase our diversity as artists that people can still connect with us even without vocals. Here, we want to express our unconditional love to our supporters,” said the 37-year-old from Soweto.

The EP is a merge between gospel/inspirational music and afro soul – a genre they dubbed as inspirational music

“We are also very intentional about the type of music that we have produced. At the beginning of our music journey together, we started with this inspirational movement – therefore we have positioned ourselves as artists who target the people who are going through a lot. We are basically about healing.

“The testimonials we have received have been proof that we are on the right path. We are proving that being a vessel is not only about going to church, but that there is a lot that one can deliver through one’s individual gifts. Ours is music. We are staying true to who we are and this EP is an exact depiction of this. “

The EP is available for Pre-orders HERE while the official release for the music is on May 12th.
