Pioneering Lesotho Hip-Hop Star Malome Vector Flaunts Lavish Lifestyle and Expensive Taste on His Latest Single “Ya Costa”
Lesotho-born rapper and singer-songwriter Malome Vector has returned with his second offering of the year titled ‘Ya Costa‘. Released independently under Ingrooves Africa, the track features SAMA-nominated South African rapper 25K and fellow countryman Lizwi Wokuqala.
Running for four minutes, ‘Ya Costa‘ is a trap-influenced song with rumbling basslines that undulate over subtly arpeggiated bells, 808 drums, and synthesizers.
Throughout the song, Malome Vector, 25K, and Lizwi Wokuqala boast about each of their lavish lifestyles, the expensive tastes of their fashion sense, and each of their experiences of being in the upper echelon. “Ngubo yami ngiyigqoka kanye k’phela angiyiphindi,” Lizwi Wokuqala raps in the opening verse, setting up the theme and Malome Vector and 25K to relay luxury life from their own unique perspectives and their own vernacular languages, from isiZulu to Sotho.
‘Ya Costa‘ is Malome Vector’s sophomore release as an indie artist following ‘Senatla‘ in October 2022, a xylophonic soulful song which garnered respectable radio play, giving Malome Vector another top ten single on the Radiomonitor SA Radio Airplay Chart. ‘Ya Costa‘ aims to showcase Malome Vector’s versatility and skill as a rapper, contrasting with the softer and emotional showing of his previous single as a solo artist of The Whole Time Entertainment.
