Thakzin Releases “Maphorisa”, Opening the World of Forthcoming New Body of Work “COMMON GROUND”

Thakzin opens a new chapter with “Maphorisa”, the first release from his forthcoming body of work COMMON GROUND, arriving November 13th, 2026.

Built around the idea that we can come from different places, carrying different stories, cultures and ways of expressing ourselves, COMMON GROUND explores the space where those differences can meet without needing to disappear.

With “Maphorisa”, Thakzin offers the first glimpse into that world: a record rooted in rhythm, individuality and collective energy, where music becomes the point of connection.

Different people. Different expressions. One shared frequency. COMMON GROUND unfolds in full on November 13th, 2026.

“Maphorisa” is the largest collective recording Thakzin has created to date, bringing together Thakzin, Mpho Wav, Atmos Blaq, Tete, Ozana, Kisto, Moonchild Sanelly, Baby S.O.N, Suffocate SA and Citizen Deep in one shared space.

At its core, the track is about the power of coming together, people gathering, creating, moving, dancing and allowing different energies to meet freely.

Created during the God’s Window sessions, “Maphorisa” brings together artists moving through 3-Step, Afro House, Afro Tech and contemporary African electronic music. Each person arrives with their own voice, rhythm, history and musical identity, but the strength of the record comes from what happens when those differences are given room to exist alongside each other.

There is joy in that meeting. There is freedom in it too: the freedom to create without overthinking, to respond instinctively, to share space, and to let music become the point of connection.

Within COMMON GROUND, “Maphorisa” represents collective energy in motion. Many people, many worlds, coming together through sound, movement and a shared moment.
