The families of the slain duo AKA and Tibz have released dates for the separate memorial services and funerals for the deceased.

The Fela in Versace hitmaker was gunned down by two unknown gunmen in Durban’s Morningside, on Florida Road on Friday evening and was declared dead on the scene. A manhunt for the killers has since been lodged. The muso was killed alongside his former manager and businessman Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, who is known for his culinary skills.

A statement released by AKA’s family read: “It is our wish to celebrate the life of Kiernan with those he touched and impacted through his gift of music. His memorial will therefore be open to the public as well as streamed online,” while Tibz family said, “the Motsoane family are deeply moved by the national outpouring of love and support over the past few days. Financial contributions are welcomed by the family at this time.”

Kiernan will be laid to rest in a private provincial funeral on Saturday, 18 February 2023, while his memorial will be held this coming Friday at the Sandton Convention Centre. Tibz’s send-off ceremony will take place on Thursday, 16th February 2023 at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg.
