Kriya Gangiah Returns As Lead Host Of the 2023 Kyalami 9 Hour
Seasoned media personality Kriya Gangiah has been announced as the lead anchor at this year’s Kyalami 9 Hour.
The Kyalami 9 Hour, scheduled for this coming February, is Mzansi’s only international and biggest motorsport event that stretches over 5 days at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
No stranger to local viewers, Gangiah started off her career on eTV’s Craz-E and has since graced various TV and radio platforms.
She will lead the on-air team and bring fans closer to the racing action; with exclusive interviews with drivers, pit crew, chefs and other industry experts as well as an inside look at what goes down behind the scenes and inside the VIP areas.
As a build-up to the event, Gangiah will host a bi-daily “Insight K9h” video show, revealing all the latest news and developments at the Kyalami Grand Prix venue.
“I am so excited to be part of the team that is bringing this major international event, not only to the South African public, but to the world. It brings together some of the best local and international endurance race drivers and it is an honour to be a part of the team. As a major petrolhead, I look forward to giving fans a little more insight into the race and a behind-the-scenes look at this major global event, it really is a dream come true,” Kriya says.
This year, the motoring event expects to see more than 20 local and international entries to take to the grid, promising an exciting variety of machinery for spectators tuning in. Adding to the motor-craze, Thursday evening night practice will be open to the public.

The 9 Hour race has a long history at Kyalami, with the first race hosted at the circuit’s inaugural meeting held on the 4th of November 1961. The race went on until the mid-1980s, with many races won by Ferrari and Porsche amongst other great racing marques.
Winning drivers include David Piper, Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx.
After a lengthy pause, the race made its return to Kyalami in 2019 and has ensured that the mystic and heritage that made the 9 Hour an international success, continues for a new generation to experience and enjoy.
With her vast knowledge and interest in motorsports, Kriya has cemented her place within the industry as one of the leading female voices in South Africa.
The Kyalami 9 Hour will take place from February 23rd to 25th, 2023.
