Global Star Black Coffee Makes History at the O2 Arena
Grammy-winning South African DJ and record producer Nkosinathi Maphumulo, famously known as Black Coffee, made history on the 22nd of May 2026 at the famed O2 Arena in London with his orchestra-infused show. Accompanied by a plethora of familiar acts such as Msaki, Monique Bingham, and Nakhane as well as special guest appearances from American superstar Alicia Keys and Mzansi’s dynamic duo Scorpion Kings, the spectacle was a sold-out event.
It was his first orchestral show in the region after his historic orchestra debut at the Madison Square Garden three years ago, which was also a sell-out.

The show, Coffee’s first with the orchestra in the United Kingdom, featured a 12-piece orchestra while centering the global deep house mastermind on a 360-degree stage. The success of the show came off the back of Black Coffee’s towering sold-out shows at the Old Royal Navy College, consolidating his sustained stay at the top of the musical echelons as far as global musicians are concerned.
Reliving the experience, Black Coffee shared his feelings about the occasion on his X account, remarking, “This past Friday has left me speechless. Every small detail put together created an absolute dream. From the special guests to the orchestra then the choir and surprises sprinkled throughout. This one came from the heart, London. Thank you for joining me on the this journey at the @TheO2.”
With the three-hour performance, Maphumulo made history by being the first African DJ to leave no seat at the O2 Arena.
