DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small Lead the Celebration of Mzansi Music with Scorpion Kings Live
Amapiano dynamic duo DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small etched new historic records in the scrolls of South African music when they lit up the FNB Stadium on the 19th of September 2026. The Scorpion Kings’ spectacle, hosted by Robot Boii and Bontle Modiselle, was attended by over 74 000 concert-goers, surpassing their previous and commercially successful production at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in 2025.
Beyond the event being about amapiano taking centre stage, Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair featured an assorted guest list that included pre-show music from the worlds of hip-hop, maskandi, lekompo, and bacardi, broadening the thematic scope of the show and making it a celebratory occasion.
DJ Maphorisa showing love to those who came to the show:
Running from 1 PM to 10:30 PM, the celebration of Mzansi music was graced with over 70 performances across different sounds that have defined the country’s soundscape over the past decade. The extensive line-up included amapiano stalwarts such as Young Stunna, MaWhoo, Nkosazana Daughter and Daliwonga; vocal powerhouses, which included Msaki, Ami Faku, and Nia Pearl; as well as hip-hop mainstays Nasty C, A-Reece, and Blxckie. The show also featured a performance from legendary act Ringo Madlingozi.
The concert also paid a touching tribute to fallen South African musicians, following the theme of the Last Supper to commemorate the departed stars. Led by the song “Abalele,” the AI-generated segment of the show paid posthumous respect to a roster of Mzansi’s lost talent, including Killer Kau, Costa Titch, AKA, DJ Sumbody and Riky Rick.
Podcast and Chill co-host Sol Phenduka praised the event, saying: “What a show. Salute to the Scorpion Kings.”
Controversial music exec Nota Baloyi posted a cute snap with his partner with the caption, “Home safe… We enjoyed the Scorpion Kings Live…”
Mult-talented superstar and businessman Cassper Nyovest also had some words of praise for the success of the production.
Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair is set to be televised on SABC1 on the 3rd of October 2026.
