DJ Mag Top 100: Shimza Breaks into the List, Joins Black Coffee and Nora En Pure

After years of breaking into the global market, South African DJ and record producer Shimza has made it into the DJ Mag Top 100 list for 2026, with the afro-tech deck master joining compatriots Black Coffee as well as Nora en Pura. It is Shimza’s debut in the enviable international DJ rankings by the British magazine known for covering all things concerning electronic dance music.

The “Missing You” hitmaker made a landing on the list at #75. The Tembisa-born mastermind behind Kunye has been lighting up the afro-house scene, serving as one of Mzansi’s most respected flagbearers of the movement on the global stage as well as being an ambassador of Mzansi music as a whole. The tech-house producer served up a sumptuous extended play in June titled Sunset in Pretoria, which arrived shortly after the superstar launched his residency in Pacha Ibiza.

“From last year’s DJ Mag cover to his first entry in the Top 100 DJs poll, Shimza’s profile has absolutely soared in the past 12 months. The DJ and producer has been bridging worlds with his Afro-house, Afro-tech and tech-house-infused sets for a while, but things have really kicked up a gear since the launch of his Shimza & Co event series in Ibiza last summer — not to mention his Song Of The Year win at the Miami Electronic Dance Awards for ‘Fire Fire’.

“In June he released the ‘Sunset In Pretoria’ EP, three sun-kissed tracks that speak to the unwavering optimism, self-belief and deep love Shimza still holds for his craft,” the magazine said of Shimza’s placement.

Grammy winner Black Coffee, on the other hand, rose three spots (#17 in the 2025 standings) to claim the #14 slot in this year’s rankings. Out of his nine appearances in his lifetime, his 2026 ranking is his highest-ever finish on the list since he first appeared in 2017. A recognisable face in the global music village, Black Coffee has remained over the years at the forefront of globalising afro-house music. With his breathtaking and record-breaking 02 Arena live show with an orchestra in May this year, Coffee continues to spearhead the sound and to open the floodgates for more acts like him to thrive on the world stage.

Swiss-South African DJ Nora en Pure made listed at #73 on the list. Although she dropped down by 15 places from last year’s rankings, the deep house producer remains one of the country’s strongest dance musicians on the international echelons.
