CHXRL Releases Heartfelt New Single “Last Mistake”
South African artist, CHXRL, returns with his most intimate release yet, “Last Mistake”. The new single offers a raw and reflective journey through heartbreak, wrapped in acoustic warmth and ambient textures.
Known for crafting introspective pop-alternative soundscapes, CHXRL is the musical moniker of Charl du Toit, a Johannesburg-based multi-instrumentalist whose work is defined by deep emotion and lyrical vulnerability. With “Last Mistake,” he channels the ache of unreciprocated connection: falling for someone who retreated in fear, leaving behind a trail of mixed signals and emotional distance.

Built around delicate guitar lines, layered harmonies, and experimental sonic details, “Last Mistake” is both tender and cathartic: music for late nights and quiet revelations.
CHXRL’s journey began at age seven on piano, though his passion truly ignited when he taught himself guitar and began producing his own music. Drawn to artists like Bon Iver, Jeremy Zucker, and Novo Amor, CHXRL found his voice in songwriting that celebrates solitude, softness, and sincerity.
In 2023, CHXRL released his debut EP, a deeply personal body of work that introduced his atmospheric style to a growing audience. Since then, he has collaborated with prominent South African acts such as Matthew Mole and Die Heuwels Fantasties, and performed alongside international names including Milky Chance, Will Linley, Darren Kiely, Neon Dreams, and Matthew Mole.
