CHXRL Explores Love in All Forms on New Six-Track EP, “KILLER”
SAMA-nominated South African artist CHXRL (Charl du Toit) releases his new six-track EP, Killer today on all streaming platforms. It is a candid, genre-blending look at love, from the rush of falling to the ache of letting go.
The EP follows the full arc of romance: the excitement of a new connection, the heartbreak of loss, and the nostalgia for what might have been. It ends on a simple idea: true love is not just finding someone to fall for, but finding someone who chooses to stay.

About the making of the Killer EP CHXRL shares the making process:
“Produced entirely from my flat with nothing but a few guitars, a MIDI controller and a laptop, this project was a natural, free-flowing process of turning my own memories and experiences into sound. Each song felt like an opportunity to paint the pictures in my mind, bringing the people, places and emotions behind these stories to life through melodies, textures and atmosphere.
“It was an intuitive and exciting process of following ideas wherever they led, building entire sonic worlds from the simplest of beginnings and finding joy in watching these deeply personal moments take on a life of their own. Ultimately, it was about making the things I’ve lived and felt tangible enough for someone else to hear and feel them too.”

The Tracklist:
- ALL IN: An upbeat, feel-good song about diving headfirst into a new romance and choosing to be all in despite the fear of getting it wrong.
- Sooner or Later: A playful, cheeky pop track about chasing a spark with someone who isn’t looking for love, and believing even the most reluctant heart might come around.
- Killer: An emotionally charged song about falling for someone who pulls you close but runs when things get serious. It explores the bittersweet acceptance of loving someone who may never be ready to stay.
- Maybe This Is It: A nostalgic, bittersweet song about reconnecting with someone from your past. It captures the ache of wondering whether you miss the love or simply the friendship you once shared.
- I’ll Be Fine: A pub-crawl love song about a long-distance relationship, and how closure can be more liberating, and more loving, than holding on.
- Honey: A heartfelt ballad inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey. Through a metaphorical journey, it celebrates falling deeper in love with a soulmate and having someone by your side to witness your life unfold.
