Amanda Black talks new single and upcoming album of self-fulfillment
Award winning singer/songwriter Amanda Black has emerged back with a new single ‘LOVE IS FOR MAHALA’, leading up to her anticipated fourth studio album that is available for pre-saving now.
The single, she shares, was inspired by her ability to learn how to love and accept all her past, present and future versions of herself, which has subsequently led her to understand that love in itself is truly free. “It comes from the inside,” she said.
The song comes at the wake of the star choosing to renounce certain things in her life and thus presenting herself in the most authentic way possible to her – which has since been met with mixed feelings from the public. But it is within this state of self-knowledge that the new music was born and thus presenting a much more mature and introspective offering that moves with the times.
“I’ve come to understand that my music evolves as I evolve as a human and as a spirit. Through my journey of understanding my purpose and why I do what I do and why i am who I am. My music reflects back to me what I’m experiencing and learning and most times even unlearning in this lifetime,” she shares.
The afro soul musicians’ upcoming album dubbed From My Soil To Yours is due to release in just eleven days – a culmination of work that she has been doing since her Myama release two years prior.
She adds: “Mnyama is about self awareness and From My Soil To Yours is about self knowledge.”
“From My Soil To Yours is a journey to searching within myself to find the parts of me I thought were lost but only to find that they have been inside of me all along, we never really lose ourselves, we just hide within where we feel is safe. That is why when we truly heal we understand that the war has always been on the inside. Self love is a dominant and recurring theme in the album as it is the beginning of all healing,” says muso, real name Amanda Anthony.
“I hope through this album people who get to hear this message will allow themselves to go within and realise that they have the power to transform their lives through the way they see, feel and treat themselves which influences how they treat others as well.”
And with every track holding a special meaning in her heart, she hopes the very music moves the listeners just as much as it has her.
“I am extremely proud of this offering, (as) it has helped me understand myself more as a person and as an artist, and I know a lot of people will see their own reflection through my own expression of storytelling,” she said.
