A Night of Surprising and Well-Deserved Wins: Full List of Metro FM Awards 2024 Winners

The people have listened over the past year and the public has spoken with their votes. The 2024 Metro FM Awards have honoured the best in the music business in a night of well-deserved celebration and memorable upsets.

Held at Mbombela Stadium on 27 April 2024, this year’s edition – themed Black to the Future – being the second one since the award show came back from a hiatus, amapiano pioneer Kabza De Small emerged the overall biggest winner of the night, walking away with four gongs, including one for Song of the Year for “Imithandazo”, which also walked away with Best Collaboration.

Among the standout winners of the night was rapper A-Reece, who took home the Best Hip Hop award for his single “Ving Rhames”, pipping the likes of Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, and Da L.E.S.

Young singer Nontokozo Mkhize, who recently released “Moyongcwele”, got her hands on Best New Artist, beating Sykes, Robin Fassie, Shakes & Les, and Harry Cane.

This year’s Metro FM Awards show was also a spectacle of surprising wins, with celebrated singer-s0ngwriter Makhadzi winning Best Female ahead of Tyla, Kamo Mphela and Ntokozo Mbambo and Lwah Ndlunkulu (with the latter two walking away with Best Gospel and Artist of the Year, respectively). Mthandazo Gatya also pulled off an upset in the Best R&B category, winning for his song “In 2 U”, beating Tyla’s “Water”, and Nannette and Blxckie’s “Talk 2 Me” and “Lu Strong” by Nontokozo Mkhize with Nomfundo Moh.

Grammy-winner Tyla took home the Global Icon Award for her international recognition and acclaim following her global hit single “Water”.
