Cape Town based marketing strategist within the music industry, known mostly for her massive TikTok following, Zethu Gqola, stands at the forefront of entertainment and pop culture commentary with a nod from the DStv Content Creators Awards with her nomination in the “Knowledge Sharing Award” category.
Speaking on her nomination, Zethu shares: “I can’t believe I’ve been nominated, mostly because although I’m categorically a content creator, it’s something I’ve fought from admitting because the kind of content I make comes so naturally to me it never really hit that I’m “creating”. I’m really grateful for it, I never would have imagined and I’m bursting with excitement! I guess this validates that I’m a real creator and maybe it’s time to own it.”
Getting into the knowledge sharing space online by “accident” after a video she made went viral on TikTok a year and a half ago, Zethu Gqola has found her niche online with over 200 000 followers gravitating towards her authentic commentary and personable delivery on topics and stories that she personally finds interesting in the pop culture and socio-political space, balancing her content with vlogs of her day/events/life on occasion.
Having worked in the music industry for over a decade, Zethu is an all-round thought leader and no stranger to sharing her industry knowledge having lent her voice to organisations such as Spotify, South African Music Awards, and SheSaidSo South Africa, just to highlight a few.
