“Where Is The Evidence?”: South Africans Chime In On the Proceedings of the ICJ Case Against Israel

The 12th of January 2024 marks the second day of South Africa’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) case against Israel at The Hague, Netherlands. The case, which ensued on 11 January 2024, was initially brought forward by the SA government, accusing Israel of “genocidal acts” in its vicious onslaught of Gaza and the Palestinians.

South Africa’s legal team include John Dugard, Adila Hassam, Tembeka Ngcukaitobi, Max Du Plessis, Tshidiso Ramogale, Sarah Pudifin-Jones, and Lerato Zikalala.

Spanning for 84 pages, South Africa’s case spotlights the mass murder and carnage by Israel against Palestinians as well as their military attacks which have rendered over 20, 000 Palestinians dead, including 10, 000 children.

After South Africa’s foray on Thursday, which drew global attention and praise, the second day of the proceedings have been overshadowed by an incident of Israel’s lawyer Malcolm Shaw “losing” his papers mid-argument.

The incident has sparked people to poke fun on social media with the trending phrase: “Where is the evidence?” in all caps.
