Vivacious & Versatile: Multi-Talented Singer-Songwriter Erin Elliot Rising With Ambition and Empowerment

Born in the home of the Table Mountain, singer-songwriter Erin Elliot embodies what it is to be an out-the-box dreamchaser. Juggling her musical pursuits, running her business, and being the best mother she can be, it is the diligent songstress’s remarkable work rate and keeping her eye on the prize, her dreams, that has helped her not drop a single ball despite being taxed by all these areas demanding different aspects of her.

It is a common theme among ordinary folk that it is rather unhealthy and unsustainable to keep one’s energies stretched thin. However, a champion of hard work and believing in oneself, Elliot is still standing, growing stronger, and making her voice heard through her music.

“Growing up, I was surrounded by strong work ethic and the belief that you could chase your dreams if you worked hard enough. That foundation taught me to embrace different aspects of my identity and pursue my passions wholeheartedly. My music reflects these experiences, and I hope it inspires others to believe in their own potential and never let limitations hold them back,” she said.

Throughout 2024, the prolific composer released a chain of singles, namely: “In the Blink”, “Seek My Heart Out”, “Your Mistake”, “Warm Bodies”, “She Said”, and “Toxic”. The multi-talented rising singer released her curtain-closer, “All I Want”, earlier this month leading up to her imminent EP SHE SAID. With the song, Elliot took the personal route as she aimed for woman empowerment as well as lifting the self-esteem of those that suffered self-image issues.

“‘All I Want’ is deeply personal. Like many women, I’ve felt the pressure to look perfect and fit into societal standards of beauty. Writing this song was my way of reclaiming that narrative—acknowledging those insecurities but refusing to let them define me. It wasn’t about one specific event but rather a reflection of moments where I realized how universal this struggle is. Through this song, I want to empower others to see their worth beyond appearances and to feel confident in embracing who they are,” she said.

Faithful to her cause as an agent of empowerment, the dynamic burgeoning musician revealed that besides her extended play already well on the way, she would be hosting songwriting camps with doors open to contributions from new recruits and fresh minds. Elliot stressed the importance of networking and building effective relationships, a mission she has planned on achieving by debuting her podcast, in which she’ll be hosting driven creative ladies to spotlight the phenomenon of womandla, and doing collaborations with other artists.

“Apart from my EP SHE SAID, I’m excited to share that I’ll be hosting regular songwriting camps, creating spaces for creativity and collaboration with incredible talent. These camps aren’t just about music—they’re about empowering creatives to step into their potential and build meaningful connections. I’m also planning future trips to Nashville to continue growing my network and finding new inspiration. In addition, I’ll be launching my SHE SAID podcast next year, where I’ll interview ambitious and creative women to celebrate their stories, highlight their achievements, and show just how inspiring women can be. And while I can’t reveal too much yet, I’m also working on unexpected collaborations with South African artists that will be released in 2025. Everything I do is rooted in the belief that we’re capable of more than we often allow ourselves to dream—and I want to inspire others to embrace that too,” she said.

Failure is merely an event, a circumstance, not the essence of one’s being. A believer in the concept of falling forward, Elliot spoke about how critical keeping herself on the move has been, as highlighted by her many singles this year alone. Satisfied with building her table and inviting others to share what’s on it with those willing to honour the invitation, Erin has also described her journey as “rewarding” as she continues to grow and forge impactful partnerships.

“I’m incredibly proud of where I am right now. It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey, and I feel like I’m building something meaningful—not just for myself but for others who resonate with my music. I’ve always believed in creating a career that reflects who I am: someone who embraces life’s challenges and opportunities and refuses to let others define my limitations.

“I believe in the concept of failing faster—because that’s how we learn. I have a bias toward action, which means I take action and go for it no matter what. Taking these kinds of risks has proven to accelerate my life in many ways, and it’s a big part of why I achieve what I do. That said, I’m always striving for growth. Each milestone feels like a stepping stone to something bigger, and I’m excited to keep chasing my dreams,” she said.

Inspired by the Y2K pop-rock scene and musicians such as Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, Jax, Dan Nigro, and Julia Michaels, she considered the collection and curation of new ideas as a fundamental part of improving her artistry and keeping herself curious enough to know that there was still room for improvement.

“Growth, for me, comes from staying curious and open to new ideas. I make it a point to keep listening—whether it’s current trends or older sounds that resonate with me. Attending songwriting camps, like the one I joined in Nashville, has been a game-changer, exposing me to fresh perspectives and fueling my creativity. But above all, I think staying authentic to who you are is what truly matters. Trends come and go, but it’s your unique voice and perspective that sets you apart. By embracing the challenges and opportunities in my life and channeling that into my music, I hope to inspire others to chase their own passions while staying true to themselves,” she said.

Looking forward to what the future holds, Erin expressed a desire to collaborate more with other artists as well as exploring the acoustic side of music-making.

“I’d love to collaborate with as many artists as possible, both as a songwriter and as an artist. Blending my sound with others creates something truly unique and allows me to grow creatively. I also have a major passion for acoustic music—it’s where I feel most comfortable and connected. There’s something so raw and powerful about stripping everything back to just the voice and an instrument. Exploring more acoustic projects would allow me to connect with listeners on a deeper level. Whether it’s through collaborations, acoustic projects, or new genres, I want my music to reflect the idea that we’re all capable of so much more than we think,” she said.
