Tyla, Kabza De Small and Mthunzi, and Lwah Ndlunkulu Score Big Nominations for the 30th SAMA Awards
The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) have dropped the official list of nominees who will be vying for the gong. The much-anticipated nominations list was revealed in the morning of the 26th of September 2024 at the Gallagher Convention Centre.
Some of the big potential winners include none other than international popiano star girl Tyla, who is up for at least seven awards: Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for her self-titled debut album; Best Audio Visual Music Video, Record of the Year, Best Collaboration (for the remix with American rapper Travis Scott) for her Grammy-winning hit single “Water”; as well as Best Female Artist and Best Newcomer.

Amapiano pioneer Kabza De Small and soulful singer-songwriter Mthunzi enjoyed a monstrous year with their Isimo album. The pair are up for Album of the Year, Best Duo/Group, Best Collaboration, Best Amapiano Album, and Record of the Year. Another big nominee is Nkabi Records first lady Lwah Ndlunkulu, who is nominated for Best Newcomer, Best Female Artist, and Best Afropop Album. Audio Visual Music Video of the Year.
Other notable multi-nominees for the 30th annual SAMAs include hip-hop stars Nasty C and Priddy Ugly; singer-songwriters Mbuzo Khoza and Lordkez; amapiano acts such as Daliwonga, Kelvin Momo, Sykes, Dlala Thukzin, and De Mthuda; and faith singer Xolly Mcwango.
