Trevor Stuurman Named Editor-at-Large of Renowned Decor Magazine
Trevor Stuurman, has been appointed as the editor-at-large of House and Leisure. The multimedia visual artist made the announcement yesterday through his Instagram with an image of himself in a cinnabar-coloured coat and the magazine’s latest issue in hand.
“Blessed, thankful and honored to be appointed as @houseandleisure Editor-at-Large. Thank you @charl_edwards and the dream team @thelookbook for the great honor. Our Spring Issue, Bloom is out on shelves tomorrow.” he wrote.
In the world of magazine publishing, an editor-at-large is a highly respected individual who has a great deal of autonomy when it comes to contributing to a magazine. Without any specific work being assigned to them, they can often choose what kind of content to create or assign to others.
Since the relaunch, their new approach is centered on ‘slow’ content and the lean-back pleasure of print.
“Our new direction is one of effortless living – celebrating a sense of place, and touching on the mood and emotions that our homes and surroundings evoke,” says Charl Edwards, House and Leisure’s editor-in-chief.
House and Leisure has recognised Trevor in the past by honouring him with the House and Leisure 2014 Rising Star award. Trevor Stuurman also let the magazine into his home in early 2020, offering a tour of his “Afrocentric world”.
