Trevor Noah Becomes First Black Man To Win an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series
South African comedian and bestselling author Trevor Noah continues to fly the Mzansi flag high on the global stage, with his latest achievement at the Emmy Awards cementing his place as one of the all-time greats from the country.
At the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards show held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the Johannesburg-born funnyman made history by becoming the first Black man to win the golden statue for Outstanding Talk Series. He won the accolade for his work on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

His recent Primetime Emmy win is his second, with his first being in 2017 for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series thanks to his Between the Scenes segment on The Daily Show.
On his speech at the award show, he shared the honour with his team when they rushed onto the stage to be with him. In a gesture of humility, Noah opted to heap praise on his crew.
Noah has been nominated seventeen times for the award, and this year, he was up against international juggernauts such as Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Seth Meyers.
The Daily Show winning this year’s Primetime Emmy marked a significant milestone. The win broke the seven-award winning streak of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver in the same category, which ran from 2016 to 2022. The last time The Daily Show had won in the same category was in 2015 under Jon Stewart.
