Thuso Mbedu Graces W Magazine!
Thuso Mbedu served pure style and sophistication as the latest cover star of W Magazine. W, which is known for its progressive and provocative covers with cultural commentary, includes Thuso adorned in Louis Vuitton for the cover, an interview with Troy Patterson and a fashion spread with Thuso dressed in top fashion brands like Burberry, Gucci and Dior.

The Emmy-nominated KZN-born star opens up about all the twists and turns that led to her ascendance into Hollywood stardom, including her brief period of unemployment and rejections.
“For the first six months of that year, I was not working,” she says. “The feedback was, ‘Your performance is good, but we don’t believe you would sell as a law student in their second year at university.’ It was a real frustration. My savings were depleted, and I went into this deep depression, where I was like, I don’t know what’s next. Do I go back to university and study something else?”
The 30-year-old star, who is currently working on a project called The Woman King with Viola Davis, now resides in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles and states that she is “still settling” into her new home.
For her role in The Woman King, which is based on the historical events of the Dahomey Kingdom (West Africa’s powerful female warrior dynasty) Thuso is training her body with weapons training and martial arts choreography.
“I want my fighting skills to be somewhere in the vicinity of my performance skills,” she says. “With the performance, I do all the preparation, and then sort of stow it away and let it live in the moment. I want to get the fighting to a place where it would also come as naturally as possible.”
