
The Pope of Pop Culture Musa Khawula to Remain In Custody Over Injurious Posts Aimed at Businessman Ze Nxumalo
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has come out with official details and the causes surrounding the arrest of controversial celebrity news blogger and social media personality Musa Khawula, who was formally arrested last week Wednesday.
Issued by Phindi Mjonondwane, the statement released stated that Khawula made a court appearance at the Randburg District Court, shouldering charges of hate speech, crimen injuria, and the contravention of the Cyber Crimes Act. The document also specified that the self-confessed Gossip Girl was remanded over injurious remarks made from the 10th to the 12th of October 2024 involving a 44-year-old businessman named Ze Nxumalo.

The incident in question is that of Musa Khawula alleging that Ze Nxumalo was being unfaithful to his wife and Miss SA 2018 winner Tamaryn Green.
“Social media personality Musa Khawula (33) appeared at the Randburg District Court, facing charges of Crimen Injuria, Contravention of Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act 19 of 2020, and Hate Speech.
“The accused is alleged to have posted derogatory statements between 10 and 12 October 2024 on his social media platform, which has a substantial following, with the alleged intention of impairing, injuring, or damaging the dignity of businessman Zee [SIC] Nxumalo (44),” said the statement.

The statement further revealed that Musa was also denied bail and will remain in custody until the 21st of January, when a bail hearing will commence. In addition, Musa Khawula still has an open case in the Free State from 2022 as well as an outstanding warrant of arrest for unlawful driving.
