Thando Skwatsha Releases Debut Single, Announces Album Under Empawa Africa
Thando Skwatsha has announced his debut album, iimini nentsuku, with the release of the first single off the project titled isaziso. The song is made in his mother tongue; isiXhosa and isiZulu, and is a story that Thando wrote about his ancestors and the need for him to be heard at this point in his life.
The meaning of the song’s name is ‘notification’. He describes the transition from childhood to adulthood and the shift in perception and the relationship with his mother and father. It is produced by talented producer and executive Milan Rendall who is also the executive producer of the album.
In a statement, Thando said: “iimini nentsuku (which means days and nights) is the first full project that I have written by myself. It is close to my heart because every song is written in my home languages of isiXhosa and isiZulu. The recurring theme in the album is past love. Writing in vernacular has allowed me to dive deeper into who I am and will allow people to relate to me more closely. I hope to leave people inspired.”
The project will be his first full-length project and will be released in November under RNDL/ emPawa Africa.
