The Hip-Hop community and the South African industry has suffered another fatal blow. South African hip-hop DJ and entrepreneur Boitumelo ‘Dj Dimplez’ Mooi tragically died after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Sunday, the 6th of March. He passed at the age of 40
Tributes continue to pour in for the revered tastemaker in hip hop/pop culture. The 8-time South African Hip-Hop Awards Winner and founder of The POP BOTTLES premier lifestyle event brand agency broke into the industry with smash hits like Way Up featuring Cassper Nyovest and JR, Vacation featuring Anatii & Da LES, and Yaya featuring Dreamteam and Anatii. His landmark contributions as an industry mentor include discovering and conceptualising brand names and acts such as MS Cosmo.
Mooi’s landmark contribution stems from his curation of the Amantombazane remix by the late Ricky Rick featuring Maggz, Nadia Nakai, Kwesta and Kid X.
