Scotts Maphuma Apologises for Missing a Show In Mozambique After Being Arrested

Controversial amapiano star Scotts Maphuma issued an apology to his fans after missing his show in Mozambique. Yesterday, it was reported that the “Bathini Bona” vocalist was apprehended and subsequently detained in the country after failing to honour a commitment he was booked for.

The star was booked for and paid to perform at a children’s event; however, he didn’t get to the event on time. At a press conference that was held on the 3rd of June 2025, Maphuma apologised for not being able to get to the show.

“First and foremost, I would love to apologise to my fans who really love me and my music. It was just unfortunate yesterday that we missed our flight because of the work that we had. Obviously, we tried and we never gave up as Gipa Entertainment and as Scotts Maphuma. We never gave up, and we always try to get to the gigs, no matter how late you are ’cause we believe in better late than never. So, I’d love to apologise to my fans, and it will never happen again,” he said.

Maphuma also spoke about how he understood that it was a children’s event, reaffirming that it being a kiddies show had nothing to do with him missing the engagement.

“I was aware that it was a children’s event, and it doesn’t matter what kind of event it is because I am a brand. And brands are all about money. Whenever there is money involved, I take it seriously. So, I knew and I was aware of the party that was happening yesterday,” he said.

Scotts took accountability concerning the disappointment of those who were expecting him and felt it would be right to reimburse those who paid to see him.

“Feelings are hurt and a lot has happened. I am a man of my word, and I believe in the truth, so I think it’s fair if I gave them back their money,” he said.
