Royalty Soapie Awards: All the Winners From TV’S Biggest Night
Our favourite soapie stars came out to shine for the fifth installment of the Royalty Soapie Awards. The event took place at Radisson Hotel and Convention Centre in Johannesburg and was hosted by Enhle Mbali and Felix Hlophe. Although the event will only air on SABC 1, 2 October, here is here are the winners from the ceremony.
Lillian’s Lifetime Award
Much loved, veteran actress Lillian Dube went home with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The star, who is known for her roles as Sister Bettina in Soul City and Masibobe on Generations, received her award dressed in a safari-coloured katan dress and her signature afro.

Outstanding Leads
Aubrey Poo was recognised for his role as Castro Kamanga on The Estate. The actor was honoured with the Outstanding Lead Actor award and was nominated alongside stars like Ayanda Daweti from Scandal! and Themba Ndaba from The Queen.
Lusanda Mbane, who nailed her villainous role as Boniswa Langa in e.tv’s Scandal! proudly took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress. The Boniswa character captivated fans with her devious acts of violence and betrayal. She exited the show in September and left fans with enough horror and shock to be deemed one of SA’s most iconic soapie villain.
More Villain Wins
Another actress awarded for her villainous performance is Jessica Nkosi. She walked away with Outstanding Female Villain for her role as Thando Sebata in The Queen, dressed in a red and leaf-embellished dress by RethaN Clothing.

The male equivalent of the award was received by Vusi Kunene for his role as Jack Mabaso in Generations: The Legacy, a role that has maintained popularity for decades. Jack Mabaso saw his exit in May of this year, when the character was killed off violently with a chainsaw. The actor moved on to star in the new drama series, House of Zwide, which replaced e.tv’s Rhythm City.
