Rising Musician Dawn Introduces Herself to the Industry With “Be Easy” As Inspired By Her Father
It is a belief commonly held worldwide that a present father is his daughter’s first real love, and for emerging singer-songwriter Dawn Jansen, mononymously known as Dawn, that has been the case. Bred in Klipspruit West in Johannesburg, the rising songstress has taken a bold step in chasing her dream of becoming a musician, propelled not only by the fuel of sheer determination and willpower but the memory of her late father.
With her sights set on breathing new life to the current pop landscape with her palette of old and new school pop and R&B, the crooner has put it to herself to roll back the clock and bring back what has been lost in the times.
The burgeoning songbird shared, with fondness, the conditions of her upbringing which nudged her in the direction of music.
“My late dad was a guitarist and growing up, I used to love seeing him play because it was so beautiful. I even got the chance to sing along with him while he played the guitar at a very young age. To see him play the instrument inspired me to follow music. Being surrounded by music and my dad, I decided to pursue music with my singing,” she said.

Introductions to the industry are hardly ever a straightforward matter, but for Dawn, her motivations have been linear and decisive. Coming in cool and single-minded, she dropped her debut single “Be Easy”, which, much like her path to the music business, was a way paved for her to walk on by her father.
“We, my father and I, started this song together just before he passed on. He played his guitar, and it became a song where everything gelled, and we came up with “I wonder should I go, or should I stay?” And so, with his passing, I wanted to create a song, and I started writing “Be Easy” to complete it. I wrote it and wanted to put it out there as a tribute for my dad,” she said.

Besides her maiden single release, Dawn sounded the bell regarding a forthcoming EP, revealing that not only was her firstborn body of work in the pipeline but that her next single was also on the way. While she didn’t give dates to set her next moves in stone, she advised her followers to keep their ears peeled for something new arriving “sometime soon”.
Practicing what she already preaches, Dawn had a few parting words for her followers and all those who have taken a keen interest in her music.
“I have this motto called #DontStopBelieving. Mean it, believe it, and just don’t give up. Just follow your passion. It can be hard but don’t stop believing. You have to believe in yourself and to push yourself. Never look back. Keep going forward and put God first,” she said.
