Ochre Moving Pictures Unveils Gripping Crime Drama “Soon Comes Night” – A Tale of Redemption, Liberation, and Deceit
Soon Comes Night a riveting six part crime drama produced by leading South African production company Ochre Moving Pictures is set to premiere on Netflix Africa on Friday, January 19th. The nail-biting thriller is set against the tumultuous landscape of an emerging rainbow nation in the 1990s.
The series tells a tale about liberation hero turned heist king, Alex Shabane, played by the charismatic Kwenzo Ngcobo, and a broken Apartheid cop seeking redemption, Detective Sakkie Oosthuizen, portrayed by Albert Pretorius, who find their lives interlocked in a gritty crime drama that explores the complexities of morality and the blurred lines between good and bad.
Soon Comes Night, directed by Thabang Moleya and Sanele Zulu and produced by Ilse van Hemert, delves into the story of these two complex men, both determined to prove themselves. Soon Comes Night features an ensemble of talented and award-winning cast. This includes Gaosi Raditholo, portraying Lesedi—a single mom and the spark that ignited the flame in Alex Shabane. Didintle Khunou takes on the role of Thato Sekoati, a ‘Born Free’ police officer haunted by the loss of her father. Joining the cast are thespians Kenneth Nkosi, portraying Minister Zungu, and Sisanda Henna as Zungu’s right-hand man, Maseko. Additionally, Bahumi Mhlongo plays the character of a young, fearless journalist, Lesedi, at the Sowetan.”
Other household names include Anelisa Phewa, who plays a wild man, a loose cannon, and a tough guy named Vincent, living in a world of simple brutality – kill or be killed. Dippy Padi takes on the role of the infamous gangsta’s hot girlfriend, but Pearl knows his heart belongs to someone else. Among the rising stars, Panch Gazela portrays the youngest member of Shabane’s gang, Toolz, who desires to live fast. Mavuso Msimang takes on the character of Moskow, a true believer, thinker, and idealist, staying true to the cause as a struggle hero.
