Nomzamo Mbatha Clears the Air After Pending Scandal Involving Paul Mashatile’s Cape Town Palace
Nomzamo Mbatha has all the recipients and it’s not what you think. The actress and producer found herself in the middle of a potential scandal after pictures of her surfaced at ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s newly-declared palace in Cape Town, sparking talks on the socials about her being possibly involved in shady business with the big shots of the political world.
On the 29th of July 2025, Mashatile reportedly declared a palatial residence located in Constantia, an affluent suburb in Cape Town, as his own. Estimated to be worth almost R30 million, Mashatile owned up to being the owner of the seven-bedroom mansion. However, his methods of declaring the mansion as well as the timing have been questionable to say the least because this is the same residence he once denied owning initially.

The property has been Mashatile’s from 2023.
Mashatile’s about-face on his stance concerning the Constantia home comes after he first ascribed ownership of the house to his son-in-law, Nceba Nonkwelo. In addition, Ramaphosa’s right hand man’s sudden declaration is a seemingly forced move, considering that the Hawks have been hot at the heels with their investigation, who are now investigating where the funds to purchase the property came from.
Mbatha got embroiled in the mix up thanks to a picture of her at the Constantia residence from her Instagram account. A sight that turned X upside down. The Shaka iLembe executive co-producer squashed any theory about her being in some sort of funny business, making it clear that she had been there as an Airbnb customer, and nothing else.

Below is a reponse by Nomzamo, in which she shows her digital receipts from Airbnb, verifying that her being at the villa had nothing to do with personal connections to Mashatile or his family. “Ok, I would like to credit and acknowledge @Airbnb. Shuthi sorry,” she said.
