No MacG In Parliament: Portfolio Committee Foils Deputy Minister Steve Letsike’s Move to Have MacG Summoned to Parliament

It has been a week since Deputy Minister of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities Mmapaseka Steve Letsike moved to have controversial podcaster Macgyver “MacG” Mukwevho summoned in Parliament to account for the deleterious comments he made aimed at TV personality Minnie Dlamini on Podcast and Chill. Since the announcement, the socials have been polarised over Letsike’s escalation of the matter, with the public questioning the relevancy of the decision and having Parliament discuss the matter. After the suspense, the Portfolio Committee’s latest meeting, a virtual sitting, has ruled against Letsike and the summoning of MacG before Parliament.

On episode 656, MacG, notorious for his off-hand remarks and often inflammatory comments, alleged that one of the reasons Dlamini’s relationship with Dr Brian Monaisa fell apart was because “her coochie smells”. This came off the back of Minnie’s split from her ex-lover Monaisa after a brief time together dating back to early 2025.

Check out a snippet of the conversation on the podcast:

The episode stoked another wave of public backlash against MacG and the enablers of the podcast which people felt have empowered Mukwevho to grow more and more emboldened when it comes to comments made on the show. And while Minnie herself continued quietly with her life, it was Letsike who took it upon herself to leverage her ministerial powers and have MacG held accountable for his opinion on the show by proposing that he be summoned to Parliament to dissect his words against Dlamini.

The Portfolio Committe’s online meeting, held on the 6th of May 2025, ruled against Letsike’s move, with various party members questioning the usefulness of tabling such a matter in front of Parliament while also leveling accusations of grandstanding against the Deputy Minister.

EFF MP Sihle Lonzi was particularly scathing in his assessment, calling out Letsike for being missing in action during the shambolic acquittal of Timothy Omotoso and the countrywide proliferation of reported teenage pregnancy, among other social issues plaguing the country, and accusing her of “selective activism”. Other members of the Committee, including those of the Democratic Alliance, the Patriotic Alliance, and the uMkhonto Wesizwe weren’t favourable toward’s Letsike’s motion, effectively voiding her attempt to have MacG called up to Parliament.

MacG himself has not said anything concerning Letsike’s verbalised intentions to have him summoned, and he made no hints of being rattled on the latest installment of Podcast and Chill.
