Multi Award-winning screen star, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, continues to make head waves, now joining the CBS and Showtime family. The South African actress will be gracing the small screens with her newest role as Queen Bhibhi, on the international production King Shaka.

Queen Bhibhi kaSompisi Ntuli is the head wife to Shaka’s father, Chief Senzangakhona. The entire story is rooted from actual events and is written by Olu Odebunmi and Tolu Awosika and is collaborated by Propagate, Fuqua Films and CBS Studios.

“I am particularly excited about this production, not only because we are getting an opportunity to tell our own stories to the world, but the team behind it is a stellar one. Showtime is pulling out all the ranks on this one.

“Charles Babalola, who leads as Shaka, is an impeccable storyteller whom I got the opportunity to play across at our test shoot in June in LA. That truly was a rewarding part of the auditioning process when CBS flew me out for the final call backs, performing for the executive team of King Shaka.” Ben-Mazwi said.

The star, who has enjoyed a remarkable year, made history as the first South African to hold 6 Netflix International credits and recently scooped two awards – one at the Feather Awards as the Hot Chick of the Year Award and the other at SA Style Award 2023 for Most Stylish Performing Artist in Film/TV.

This week, the 33-year-old was also been nominated for the VN Global Media and Entertainment Awards, in the category, Actress of The Year, to be held 15 December in Cape Town.

Ben-Mazwi’s recent outstanding performance on her last hit series, Savage Beauty, showed a different side from her usual chick-flick films she had become accustomed to. In King Shaka, she promises to push the envelop even further.

King Shaka is executive produced by Odebunmi and Awosika, Antoine Fuqua, Bridget Carpenter, Propagate’s Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens and Rodney Ferrell. Seith Mann, who is directing the pilot, and Spencer Medof are also executive producers. Scott Greenberg is a producer, and Michael Callas is producing for Fuqua Films.
