Mzansi Mourns Untimely Death of DJ Citi Lyts
Known for his contribution to the South African music scene, Sandile Mkhize, professionally known as DJ Citi Lyts, has tragically passed away.
The ‘Washa Washa’ hitmaker was attacked by four armed men in the early hours of Monday morning and fatally shot eight times in Dube, Soweto. The 32-year-old musician was found with gunshot wounds on his upper body and was declared dead on the scene. It is alleged that it could have been a hijacking; however, police are still unsure of the motive.
Family friend Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini confirmed the artists’ death stating that DJ Citi Lyts and his friends were ambushed by the attackers that appeared out of nowhere and shot them all.
Citi Lyts was the brother of the famous late rapper Pro Kid who succumbed to a seizure in 2018. Citi Lyts, like his brother, contributed to local hip hop. He was signed to Ambitious Entertainment and worked with Sjava, Emtee, and Saudi.
The Mkhize family is still processing the loss of their son and has opened a case of murder.
