Musicians Malome Vector and Lizwi Wokuqala and Film Director Da Mos Pass Away In Fatal Road Accident

Lesotho-born rapper and singer-songwriter Bokang Moleli, popularly known as Malome Vector, has sadly passed on.

The “Dumelang” hitmaker died in a motor accident while travelling with videographer and film director Musa “Da Mos” Nkondo as well as fellow contemporary-in-music Lizwi Wokuqala. All three men lost their lives in the tragic happening, with all of them being declared dead on the scene of the vehicle crash site (the N1 of the Free State in the vicinity of the Koppies turn-off).

Moleli’s family issued a statement concerning the harrowing news, confirming the untimely death of the Sotho musician.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we, Moleli’s family, confirm that passing of our son Bokang Moleli aka Malome Vector on the 24th of July 2024.

“Malome Vector was involved in a tragic motor vehicle accident on his way to Lesotho which took his life immediately,” the statement said, regarding the death of Malome Vector.

Mzansi was left devastated at the heart-wrenching news, with colleagues, musicians, and industry institutions taking to X to express their sadness.

Malome Vector’s former record label Ambitiouz Entertainment wrote: “With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of a shining beacon, the Lion of Lesotho’s sun has set. Our deepest condolences go out to his loved ones and industry peers during this time of profound loss. Rest In [Peace] Malome Vector.”


TV producer and radio personality Rashid Kay shared his condolences with a quote from the late Riky Rick saying: “We Never Die, We Multiply. Rest Easy Malome Vector”.


Past collaborators and former record label colleagues Blaq Diamond also spared a word for Roma-born rapper as well as for Lizwi with a media statement. The duo expressed their grief, saying: “It is with deep sorrow that we, Blaq Diamond, express our heartfelt condolences to the families of our brothers, Lizwi Wokuqala and Malome Vector, and their music fans from Lesotho, South Africa, and beyond.”


The celebrated rapper’s career was bejeweled with beloved hits such as “Price to Pay”, “Lerato”, and “Nobody”. Vector’s discography consisted of two albums, Karabo which dropped in 2022, and his sophomore project 1964, which would be his final offering, landing on 28 March 2024.

The star is survived by his daughter named after his debut album.

Rising star Lizwi Wokuqala was due to drop his first EP, Gamelihle, this coming National Women’s Day.
