Murder Accused Linked to the Shooting of DJ Warras Makes Court Appearance

The wheels of motion have been set in motion concerning the tragic murder of media personality and podcaster Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras. The suspect, named Victor Majola Mthethwa, made an appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on the 6th of January 2026.

It was the murder accused’s second time before the judge regarding the shooting of Warras.

Facing charges of premeditated murder, the 44-year-old suspect was in court to seek bail; however, the bail hearing ultimately suffered a postponement, with the date being moved to the 13th of January 2026. Victor will be kept in custody until the set date for his next bail hearing.

The family’s mouthpiece and sister of the slain DJ, Nicole, stressed solidarity and the importance of support from the country as well as meeting the unfortunate passing and the grief with a positive attitude.

“The void is real and the only thing that can actually fill that void is prayer, is God, hence we asked the whole nation for prayer and to stand with us in solidarity. I think that’s important because right now we need God, we need Christ, and we need love. We need support. Anger and revenge will not get us to where we need to be. We just need to trust the process that’s taking place right now,” Nicole said after the hearing.

Warras was gunned down on the Day of Reconciliation in Johannesburg, with the shooting being perpetrated in broad daylight in the CBD. The 40-year-old was reportedly accosted by a trio of suspects, one of whom opened fire before they dispersed.

The untimely killing of the Durban-born household name left the country reeling, upset over the state of rising crime and the growing brazenness of elements of criminality in South Africa.

This is a developing story.
