“Mnakwethu”, meaning “sister wife,” is a poignant love ode that delves into the complexities of modern relationships. Lwah’s soulful voice captures the pain and frustration of suspecting infidelity, as she sings about a partner who barely calls or posts about her. The song opens with the haunting lines, “Bengicela avele umnakwethu sikulume ngendoda yethu lena ayenza ingafowuni kuphela amalanga ngingayiboni” (I’m pleading with my sister wife to talk about our man, who doesn’t call or show up for days). These lyrics paint a vivid picture of the emotional turmoil that comes with being in a love triangle, a situation many can relate to.
