Modern Horror Dodges The Binding “L” Word With Their Latest Single, “thought we were cool”
Nothing kills the vibe of a passionate fling faster than the dreaded “What are we”, especially when one party is in search of the “L” word (love) and the other isn’t. Born from a bustling Cape Town songwriting camp set up by boutique artist services company, Platoon, Modern Horror croons through buzzkill with their latest single, “thought we were cool”.

Modern Horror, an accidental collective of eight aspiring South African musicians is composed of Orah, Kenza, Mpho.Wav, Bakai, Valley Sixteen, Greg Abrahams (Hollow Scene), and Jabulile Majola & Blake Sayer (Bravecat). Inspired by an intense sharing of creative energies, an otherwise once-off community gathering transmuted into a full-fledged collective with an avalanche of songs yet to take over music playlists and digital libraries across the globe.

“thought we were cool” is the title lead single from the eccentric collective’s monthly EP series birthed from the aforementioned writing camp. Doused in a fusion of Deep House, Lo-Fi and Electronic Dance texture, the plush vocals serenade a passionate avoidance of monogamy, harmonising sweet disappointment at how a blossoming casual relationship became tainted with the consideration of a serious one.
Keep the flirtatious spark of no-strings-attached alive this sexy single summer by requesting “thought we were cool” on your favourite radio stations and connect with the collective for more music news.
