The 10th edition of MAMA MONEY GHANAFEST SA was an extraordinary celebration of Ghanaian culture, unity, and heritage, held under the theme “FORWARD EVER GHANAFEST.” As a vibrant precursor to South Africa’s Heritage Day on September 24th, GhanaFest served as a perfect reminder of the beauty of cultural diversity, making it a fitting tribute to both Ghanaian and South African identities.
 
This year’s GhanaFest drew an impressive attendance of over 4,000 people, solidifying its status as one of the most anticipated cultural festivals in South Africa. The festival showcased the dynamic cultural tapestry of the Ghanaian ethnic groups, featuring enthralling displays of their unique traditions, cuisine, fashion, and artistry.

The event kicked off with an awe-inspiring procession of Kings and Queens, setting the tone for a day of vibrant cultural showcases. Attendees were treated to an array of exhibitions that highlighted Ghanaian culinary delights, fashion, beauty products, and traditional accessories, providing a full immersion into the essence of Ghanaian culture.

 A special message from Her Excellency Francisca Ashietey Oduntey, representing the Ghana High Commission, emphasized the festival’s importance in fostering peace, love, and cultural pride. Her words resonated with the crowd, further amplifying the significance of cultural exchange and unity between Ghana and South Africa.
 
The entertainment segment of the festival was nothing short of spectacular, with electrifying performances from renowned artists such as King Paluta and Ofori Amponsah, as well as the South African-based Ghanaian gospel artist Oxmart Prah. The Sankofa Band, DJ Shadow, and a traditional African dance group from South Africa also graced the stage, captivating the audience and providing a true celebration of African music and dance.
