Kings Of Joburg Season Two Gearing For Its Return In The New Year.

Kings Of Joburg Season Two Gearing For Its Return In The New Year.

With Mzansi’s incredible success in the entertainment scene, 2023 promises nothing less.

From music to locally produced films, our local talent has definitely shone through.

Another production to look out for is the King of Joburg, a Ferguson Films and Samad Davis Production. The eight-part series action-drama series picks up from a successful first season which saw fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods and a deal with the devil.

The series starred the late filmmaker and actor Shona Ferguson onscreen and behind the camera. Ferguson portrayed the character of Simon “Vader” Masire and was also credited as an executive producer of the show. The sequel sees executive producer & showrunner Samad Davis and executive producer Connie Ferguson teaming up again in what they both described as a tribute to the late great Shona.

The late Shona’s wife Connie joins the production this season, and will be joined by new faces such as Thembi Seethe, and returning faces like Zolisa Xaluva, Cindy Mahlangu, Nnekwa Tsajwa, Buhle Samuels, Thapelo Mokoena, TK Sebothoma and Altovise Lawrence.

Kings of Joburg continues to follow the Masires, a family haunted by a supernatural family curse, who find themselves tangled in a web of betrayal that threatens to destroy the family.

Speaking on a radio interview earlier last month, Xaluva said losing Shona Ferguson at the peak of the Show’s first season run was heart-breaking.

“Losing your captain, your leader – someone who had passion for that project, a week before we started shooting season was difficult. So, doing season two without him, there was a really Shooting the second season had a huge difference. There was a missing link,” he said.

Xaluva, who has been in the industry for over 20 years now, admits to having tons of fun on King of Joburg and, “it must have been the coolest productions I have been on,” he said.

King of Joburg returns on Netflix in January 27th.
