The team behind Cape Town’s beloved sunset concerts is proud to announce the launch of the Sunset Music Series – Johannesburg, a brand-new live music experience set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Roodepoort.
 
This marks the first season of what is set to become an annual autumn tradition – bringing together families, friends, and music lovers for laid-back, world-class performances immersed in nature.
 
Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden – one of Gauteng’s most treasured green spaces – offers the ideal picnic setting beneath the stunning Witpoortjie Waterfall. With expansive lawns, towering cliffs, and vibrant birdlife, the venue creates a truly magical atmosphere for unforgettable outdoor concerts.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and blankets for a relaxing day out. While no alcohol may be brought in, fully stocked bars and a variety of delicious food vendors will be available on-site. Your own food is welcome.
 
Designed to be family-friendly and inclusive, the Sunset Music Series is a celebration of both local artistry in this spectacular natural setting. Future editions will expand to six or more concerts annually, catering to a wide range of musical tastes and audiences.
 
“This is about creating space for people to connect over music in one of Joburg’s most beautiful locations,” says Damon Forbes of Breakout Events, the organisers of the series. “We’re thrilled to finally bring the Cape Town spirit and initiative inland and build something truly special for Gauteng.”
