Hip Hop Needs Me, Says Cassper Nyovest

Cassper Nyovest woke up guns blazing today and told his fans that South African hip hop needs him. The rapper made the claim after Apple Music released SA’s most streamed artists, albums, and songs. The chart revealed that amapiano dominates as a genre in SA and that local hip hop has a relatively smaller influence over the country.

“The yall tell me Hip Hop don’t need a nigga? Where the bangers at ? The bangers that people fuck with in the hood! Not abo BARS ON BARS!!! The game needs me but is fine,” claimed Cassper, before continuing to state that he’ll stick to Amapiano.

“Apparently Hip Hop don’t need Cassper Nyovest!!! They coming together and things are looking bright!!! Costa Ebile are yena he is fixing what i destroyed,” he also stated.

In his rant, Cassper is referring to an incident that occurred a few weeks ago between him and rapper Costa Titch. After the “Doc Shebeleza” artist told fans that he’d drop a hip hop “banger” if fans were nice to him and called him the greatest, Costa replied via his Instagram stories with the following message: “SA Hip Hop is uniting right now. If you jumped ship, stay there and let us fix what you broke – respectfully”.

SA Hip Hop might not have the upper hand in terms of popularity right now, but the prevalence of local artists like Nasty C and Tshego in hip hop indicate the genre’s relevance. Multiple artists like Blxckie, Dee Koala, Lucas Raps and others are slowly becoming strong contenders within the hip hop scene.

Cassper may be an OG in the game, it’s quite a stretch to assume that local hip hop falls without his presence.
