Global Spotlight Turns to Local Talent with Lady of the House SA Winners Compilation
The journey towards one of South Africa’s most anticipated electronic releases began with an open call. Lady of the House invited women and non-binary producers across the country to share the sounds that move them. The response was overwhelming. What followed was a month’s long discovery of ambition, craft and identity that has now culminated in the Lady of the House South African Winners Compilation, officially available now for pre add and pre save ahead of its release on 12 December 2025.
This compilation marks the first South African chapter of a global movement that continues to widen the pathways for underrepresented voices in electronic music. What makes this project distinct is its devotion to storytelling through sound. Instead of a single winning track, three artists were selected. Each brings their own world to the project, creating a body of work that reflects South Africa’s layered and evolving dance music identity.

The three winners Queen Leshka, Lu-Zer and Sharm Pillay were chosen after months of adjudication by an esteemed panel of Godmothers and mentors, including Gigi Lamayne, Shamiso, Namakau Star and dance music legend, Tamara Dey. Their guidance and belief in championing authentic African voices shaped the spirit of the contest, which was hosted in partnership with Jägermeister’s Save The Night initiative and supported by global partners such as the Pete Tong DJ Academy, Beatport, TribeXR, Gray Area and Drumsheds.
Each of the three artists arrives with a narrative that expands the possibilities of South African electronic music. Queen Leshka contributes “Soul Train”, a warm and melodic production driven by percussion and guided by her instinctive approach to storytelling through rhythm. Her reputation in Amapiano circles continues to grow, yet this release offers a deeper look into her versatility and intention as a producer.
Lu-Zer offers “Ndawo Yami”, a deeply personal and emotional debut honouring their late mother. The track blends trip hop, alternative sound design, Afro jazz textures and electronic finesse, introducing an artist whose work is both cinematic and vulnerable. With a debut EP underway, Ndawo Yami is a poignant introduction to a voice that feels new yet rooted in lived experience.

Sharm Pillay’s “Soul To Soul” completes the trio with a powerful and emotive techno production shaped by her global performance background. Her intuitive style and command of the dance floor are felt throughout the track, echoing the ethos of her SEKSiCuLLTURE brand which centres elevation, movement and self-expression.
The compilation took five to six months to assemble, from the initial submissions to the finishing touches on the final masters. It reflects the purpose driven work of the Lady of the House team, label partners and mentors who recognised the responsibility of presenting South African talent with care and intention. The selection process was both meaningful and challenging, with an impressive volume of submissions that spoke to the depth of creativity rising in the country.
Beyond the music, this release represents visibility, courage and the growing momentum of a movement committed to shifting narratives. Lady of the House continues to create platforms for women and non-binary artists whose contributions often go unheard in a male dominated industry. This compilation stands as both an acknowledgment of excellence and an invitation for more creators to step forward.
