“Given a re-do, I would not change a thing,”  evicted Big Brother Mzansi housemate Jareed said

With just two weeks to go until the crowning of the ultimate Big Brother Mzansi winner, taking home two million rands, Jareed and Els were the two to bite the dust last night.

The housemates, who caused a lot of stir at the Saturday night party,  got the least amount of votes leaving 11 housemates still up for the running. And if Jareed’s Big Brother bio is another to go by, “Kiss them all, tell none” – when asked how he moves in relationships – he certainly lived up to that motto.

The 24-year-old, who hails from the south of Johannesburg, locked mouths with a couple of the girls in the house while also seemingly “committed” to 22-year-old Liema. And that quad relationship led to a lot of tension, with Liema commenting that 23-year-old Els was over the moon to be eliminated alongside Jareed as someone who was also entangled in the love rectangle. Messy!!

Speaking to Jareed, he said he was a little concerned about how the world would perceive him upon his elimination but said he would not overcompensate to try to sway ideas about him but would rather take it on the chin.

“I’ll ride with the hate, if there is any, and show people that we are human and we make mistakes. If anything, I would love to learn and grow from that experience and maybe have others grow with me,” he said.

Real name Mfanele Nduku reiterates that going into the house, he realized that there is no other working strategy than being himself and that everything we saw over the past 7 weeks was all him.

“That’s the real strategy, to be yourself. And the more time I spent there the more I realized that I accomplished much, with being myself at the top of that list. And I will not shy away from whatever people witnessed and I cannot be apologetic for what I said or did. I will just face it all,” he said.

“Being out of the house doesn’t feel nice because I wasn’t planning to be out now, but accepting the outcomes, I can’t wait to do something with my life,” adding that the first thing on his to-do list is finding solitude with regards to where his mental space is before working towards growing his brand.

Jareed describes the experience as one that called for him to learn to accommodate others in the house, and that led to him really not having any qualms with anyone.

On the other hand, Els said if she were given a do-over, she would have distanced herself from Jareed, knowing what she knows now, adding that she believed that involvement might have compromised her journey.

The 23-year-old hairdresser said it was unfortunate that she was eliminated now, but on the other hand, she is happy to go home because she missed her family terribly.

Els, real name Elsie Sese, admits that in the past few weeks, her true character has come out as opposed to when she initially started in the house, which meant confronting issues head-on or even standing up for herself.

“By the time I got to week six, I decided to really enjoy my time in the house as opposed to always thinking of strategies.”

Commenting about Liema’s comment, she said, “I think that hotel comment was completely unnecessary because, first of all, she doesn’t know me like that. So for her to assume whatever she was assuming to even say that was out of line.

“Overall, looking back into the house, I had a great time. There is more good than bad to celebrate.”

She said that when her name was called out, she expected it to be so, especially when she saw those against whom she was pitted, calling them strong contenders.

“Now that I am out, I actually wish there was a hole for me to hide because I really don’t know what to expect nor am I ready for it all. What I am definitely sure of is that I am ready to go back to school to study film writing and directing, and if this opportunity brings with it opportunities, I am down for that,” she said.
