Get to Know TNK MusiQ As They Serve Crowd-Pleasing Amapiano For the Festive Season
They have kept club walls thumping and the streets jumping with their contributions on bangers such as DBN Gogo’s “Bells” and Chley and Mellow & Sleazy’s “Wenza Kanjani”, among other hits. And yet even with impressive credits beyond these, amapiano duo TNK MusiQ, comprising of Kyle De Producer and T-Man RSA, are still driven by their hunger to take their craft to greater heights while keeping the interests of their core fans at the center of their endeavors. From being childhood buddies to forming a musical alliance to help push the envelope of the piano movement which has already garnered continental and global traction, the pair are among the genre’s most promising fresh faces.
We caught up with one half of TNK MusiQ, Kyle De Producer, who recalled how the duo was born from a lifelong friendship with his partner in music.
“You see, me and my homeboy T-Man come from the same hood. We grew up in the same kasi and even went to the same primary school. We’ve known each other for a long time. Us going into music came about differently. It was a thing of me catching rumours circulating around ekasi of someone doing music. After doing some digging and finding out that it was my friend, we decided to form TNK,” he said.

The dynamic pair recently released Ask & Receive 2, a seven-track extended play already getting showered with love thanks to its lead single “Abo Nokthula”. With features coming from the likes of LeeMcKrazy, Kabelo Sings, Scotts Maphuma, and DJ Raybel, the EP was a project pushed out to placate public demand. With visuals for “Abo Nokthula” close to being dropped as well as a music video for “Weh Sweetie” already in the pipeline, TNK MusiQ have put their bodies out on the ground to maximise the motion and capitalise by riding the waves on the airplay.
Already available for consumption on every prominent DSP, he spoke about the inspiration behind the body of work.
“The name of the EP actually came from the fact that the people have been asking about our music. We’ve been in the game for quite a while now without dropping something like this. We are still working on being able to drop music consistently, and this EP is our way of giving people what they want from us. We simply hit the studio and started recording music. Whatever we felt was on after making it, we put it out to please the fans. That’s how we ended up with Ask & Receive 2,” he said.

With their hearts set on inspiring young kids with their music and to let those trailing them know that it’s possible to convert those dreams sitting on the high shelves of life into a reality, Kyle listed musical acts that have inspired the group as well as what they do to grow in their artistic journey.
“Ah, me and T-Man, even though we are a duo, we are inspired by different artists, but Kabza De Small, Black Coffee, Oskido, and DJ Maphorisa come to mind when it comes to those we have in common. And we’ve been able to make it into this space paved by them by doing what we do best and just believing in it. We believe a lot in our uniqueness.” he said.
