From Soweto to the World: Lady of the House SA-Winning DJ Queen Leshka Sets Her Sights on Glory
Hailing from the throbbing epicentre of amapiano in Soweto, Johannesburg, is Lady of the House SA Competition victor Queen Leshka, breathing new life into the sound. Proclaiming her advent with her competition-winning song, titled “Soul Train”, the record producer is making a steady ascension, bidding for a spot at the summit of the game.
Leshka looks back at how she grew up and how her surroundings influenced the path she has ultimately decided to own.
“I grew up in an environment where house music was developing and a lot of amapiano stars were born and are currently based, the influence was much easier to relate to in developing and mastering my skill,” she says.

Queen reveals what the journey has been like building up to being one of the winners of the Mzansi installment of the Lady of the House Competition, citing the importance of learning and trusting the process.
“So far it’s been great because I’ve been able to develop and grow so much skill in music production, a skill that is quite scarce in South African female DJs. Having the ability to understand music production and create hit songs that people can relate and vibe to has been worth the years I’ve put in to master my talent,” she says.
Careful to remain grounded and not inflate her head about her progress, Leshka reflects on the virtue of being patient and how essential it is to the consistent growth of an artist.
“Patience. You can learn something in a day, but you can’t master it immediately. We keep learning, no matter how big and successful you are. Even if you believe you already know everything, there’s always more progress to be made and achievements to be obtained,” the deck maestro says.

The piano rising star also loves being outside when not making music.
“I love exploring nature. The great outdoors. I get a lot of inspiration from being in a peaceful open environment. I also enjoy attending certain amapiano events, meeting new people and networking under one roof that brings us together as a community pushing a movement,” she says.”
Leshka has lofty dreams for her future self laden in global acclaim and trailblazing musical pioneering.
“I am definitely aiming to be one of the world’s top female producers and to work with some of the most talented names in the industry. I see myself producing award-winning songs. Making timeless, generational hits that female producers can get inspired by and motivated to replicate, regardless of societal standards and no matter how impossible it seems,” she concludes.
