Four-Time World Champions of Rugby, The Springboks, Set For Four-Day Trophy Tour

The four-time world champions of rugby, the Springboks, are back home, and with them is the coveted Webb Ellis Trophy. After receiving a hero’s welcome from patrons at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, Amabhokobhoko are now due for a trophy tour.

The four-day trophy parade will kick off on Thursday, the 2nd of November 2023 and will end on Sunday, the 5th of November 2023.

Locations earmarked for the route include Johannesburg, Pretoria, Soweto, Cape Town, Durban, and the Eastern Cape.

According to the SA Rugby website: “The tour will start in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Soweto – concluding at FNB Stadium – on Thursday, 2 November, and take in Cape Town (Friday, 3 November) and Durban (Saturday, 4 November) before concluding in the Eastern Cape (East London) on Sunday, 5 November. The locations have been selected for population size in the first three instances and because of the Eastern Cape’s rugby’s significance in the fourth.”

Route maps and times are going to be published on the SA Rugby website over the course of time, and developments will be made known via the socials and through local authorities.

The Springboks clinched the title on Saturday against the All Blacks, pipping them 12-11 to become the first nation to win the trophy on four occasions.
