Ex-Lovers Sithelo Shozi & Andile Mpisane Embroiled in GBV Scandal

It’s not the first time that Royal AM chairperson Andile Mpisane and DJ Sithelo Shozi have made the headlines for eyebrow-raising reasons. The last time it happened, it was over Andile publicly proposing to another woman while he and Sithelo, his baby mama, were still very much in a publicised relationship. This time, however, the ex-lovers are the talk of the country for a much more ominous situation.

Via a series of posts, screenshots of conversations between herself and her ex (including a recorded call reeking of shameless aggression and intimidation from Andile), and damning photos of herself, Sithelo spilt the tea. She peeled back the curtain of their tumultuous life from her viewpoint, revealing episodes of gaslighting, physical abuse, love bombing, and collusions from her ex’s circle of family and friends that enabled the abuse to go on unchecked. “I will have no remorse,” said one of the captions of Sithelo’s now-deleted stories on Instagram. “I’ll continue showing exactly what I’ve silenced just to protect you.”

In another more graphic slide, there are multiple pictures ranging from that of a busted cellphone to pictures of Sithelo with swollen lips and bite marks on her skin. “Or should I speak about the beatings I’d get every week orrrr a monthly [sic] followed by a bunch of flowers, so I’d never speak out?” said the caption on the pictures.

Sithelo even went as far as pointing fingers at Andile’s family, blaming them for an apparent miscarriage allegedly suffered at the hands of Andile. “I was beaten into a pulp and had a miscarriage […] in a room full of his family and friends […]” she wrote.

Although Andile has been mum throughout the whole saga, his mother, Shauwn ‘Mam’Mkhize’ Mkhize, released a statement on Wednesday afternoon on her Instagram. In it, she clarified her stance on GBV in general and refuted Sithelo’s claims.

“I would like to categorically state that neither myself nor my family ha[s] been witness to any alleged abuse against Sithelo,” said the official statement on Mam’Mkhize’s Instagram. The statement went on to assert that Sithelo’s allegations were “false and defamatory.”

Contrary to this, however, Sithelo brought out another screenshot of a conversation between Mam’Mkhize and herself, illustrating that Mam’Mkhize was aware of the abuse.
