“Do You Want Me to Kill Myself?”: Lady Zamar Questions the Public and What the Endgame of Cyberbullying Will Be

SAMA Award-winning singer-songwriter Lady Zamar has once again shaken up the Twitter algorithms with her latest post concerning the treatment she’s had to swallow from the public.

In a tweet posted on the 16th of July 2023, Zamar lamented the treatment she’s been receiving for the past several years linked to the rape allegations against Sjava and the subsequent aftermath of the scandal.

The post detailed her frustration with people not letting her move on and with the public making it difficult for her to just be. “I can’t move on from your assumptions of what happened to me… you’ve made your opinions my truth… what’s the end goal of all this hate and why are you so determined to believe a story that’s not even full or mine?… when I try to tell you my truth you guys don’t wanna hear it, when I try to move on you guys attack me,” she said on the post.

Towards the end, in a desperate attempt to find answers from the public, she posed a series of questions to her detractors about what they think she ought to do with herself. She asked if it would give them peace and closure if she committed suicide or die. “Do you want me to kill myself, do you want me to die, be murdered, go to jail to make you guys happy… do you guys want me to stop making music or publicly cry so you can see how I actually feel about what happened to me?” she said.

The tweet has garnered over three million views, and seventeen thousand likes.

Many had a lot to say concerning her latest post in defense of Sjava, citing a lack of trust in her testimony about the rape allegations. But Lady Zamar was quite active herself in defending her own cause.

Lady Zamar continued to trend number 1 in South Africa right into the afternoon, with cover 33k tweets of conflicted tweets.
