Crown Gospel Music Awards Founder and Ukhozi FM Radio Personality Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule Has Passed Away
Crown Gospel Music Awards founder and Ukhozi FM radio personality Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule has passed away at the age of 52.
The tragic news was shared by her husband Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule with a statement.
“It is with a heavy heart that we the Nkambule and Mbokazi family announce the passing of our dearly beloved Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards and Ukhozi FM radio personality.
“She departed to be with the Lord; early hours of of 12 August 2024, at Parklands Hospital. We are grateful for all the prayers, love, and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate through this challenging time.” Bishop Nkambule said on the statement.

Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule
The multi-hyphenate evangelist and woman of God was fighting lung cancer. News concerning the illness came to light earlier this year in May, also revealed by Bishop Nkambule.
Through the months, Mbokazi-Nkambule was supported not only by family but also by friends and her spiritual family, who continued supporting her and the family with their prayers and their encouragement.
Apart from working on Ukhozi FM, Mbokazi-Nkambule also had credentials working with SABC, TBN, 1G, and Soweto TV.
Her business portfolio included her founding and owning the Crown Gospel Music Awards, the gospel musical MARIA, and the Celebrate Africa Carnival and Festival, to name a few. Her exploits with charity included owning the Zanele Mbokazi Foundation as well as working with the Future Leaders NPO, a youth-geared organisation that focuses on equipping the youth with entrepreneural and life skills while tackling mental health.
The author also had a number of titles to her bibliography, including The Battle Is Not Yours, Push, You Are Closer than You Think, Before the Vows, and Dear Daughter. She also had a forthcoming book due for release later this year, according to Precious Gondwe.
