CemAir’s Reputation Up In the Air Following Viral Video of Shamiso Getting Thrown Out of A Flight
The reputation of CemAir up in the air as the flight company faces severe backlash after a viral video of MTV presenter Shamiso being thrown out of the plane finds its way around the socials.
In the clip, in which Shamiso was live on Instagram, the TV personality can be seen keeping calm while recording herself having an exchange with CemAir flight attendants as well as members of the SAPS who were called on board.
The eruption of the incident happened as a result of Shamiso using strong language while she was on the phone with her friend, as she admits towards the latter parts of the video while taking it up with the captain of the plane in the cockpit. Shamiso had said “What the f*ck” while having a conversation with her friend over the phone.
“This woman has a problem with me, and I’m assuming it’s racially based because I don’t know what I did to her so bad. She has a problem with the fact that I swore on a call with my best friend.” she said.
The incident resulted in the presenter being thrown out of the plane as seen below.

The flight company in question, CemAir, released a statement on their Instagram account. However, their version of events, as recounted in the statement, said: “A late boarded passenger became unruly and abusive, refusing to follow the lawful instruction of the cabin crew member.”

South Africans have since rallied behind Shamiso in the wake of what happened, with many commending her whilst others came forward to condemn the airline while others issued eye-witness accounts of what truly happened.
@_ts_ngubeni posted a screenshot of a flight review left on Hello Peter from the same flight, panning the service. The caption said: “Someone who witnessed Shamiso being discriminated against on the flight just left a review on Hello Peter.”
@titusson_zealot said: “FlyCemAir blocked me on IG for asking them their stance on the racism issue that happened with regards to Shamiso… it’s clear they don’t wanna take accountability. They’re blocking people and hiding comments. It’s only fair you stop using their services.”
@YayaRSA decried the statement released by CemAir, saying: “CemAir releasing a statement and lying is wild. I hope Shamiso deals with the[m]! We have went through so much as black people really to be constantly being bullied and gaslit. “A late boarded passenger became unruly and abusive” the witness are singing a different tune. Nisile!”
